I love my curls but that doesn't mean that I don't occasionally enjoy straightening my hair for a bit of a change up. So here are my top tips to keep your locks healthy and shiny and keep those curls bouncy after straightening.

1. Use a heat protector
Use a heat protector on your hair before blow drying or straightening to protect the strands from heat damage.
2. Use a cool heat
Don't use the highest heat setting on your hairdryer. I like to blow-dry on a medium heat.
3. Don't over straighten
Try not to straighten your hair day after day. It can take a long time to blow dry your hair so we want it to last as long as possible before washing it again, but going over it day after day with heat isn't a great idea. Get a good blow-dry in and straighten afterwards if needed but in the days following, try to avoid too much extra heat.
4. Deep Condition
When you're ready to wash and get your curls back, take the extra time to do a deep conditioning treatment to give your hair some extra moisture.
